He was smooth, he was technical, he was dominant. Al Iaquinta was back in full force last night at Foxwoods Resort and Casino, and he didn’t disappoint. Iaquinta outworked Rodrigo Damm for two and a half rounds before knocking him out late in the third. Iaquinta was dominant, impressing with his striking and take down defense.
Iaquinta entered last nights contest as the superior striker, and that edge was on full display. Al quickly found his rhythm and was able to land effective strikes early on. The New Yorkers stand up game was sharp as he took control of the fight against Damm in the first round. His defense was equally as impressive as he was able to stuff any take down attempts by Damm.
Iaquinta carried that momentum into the third round, pushing the action against a worn down Rodrigo Damm. A big right hook by Al dropped Damm in the third. Rattled, the Brazilian fighter motioned for Iaquinta to come down to the ground and join him. Smelling blood, Iaquinta yelled to official Herb Dean to stand Damm back up, as he motioned for Damm to get back on his feet. After a brief exchange Iaquinta was able to land a powerful head kick followed by several hard shots that dropped Damm once again, ending the fight at the 2:41 mark of the third round. A fired up Iaquinta prevailed.
A great win and the first “official” finish of Iaquinta’s UFC career. On to the next one for Iaquinta who continues to improve fight after fight. Another strategical well fought victory looking the best we’ve seen yet. Sit tight Iaquinta Nation Raging Al is just getting started.

Some awesome blows!!!
That was a great fight by raging Al Iaquinta from start to finish. Cant wait to see who he beats next.
I can’t wait to see that also :)!!!
Al provides so much excitement and entertainment for all the fans at the event. I was lucky enough to be there with his buds from Wantagh, about 30 of us, and man can this kid HIT. I’m waiting for the rematch with Michael Chiesa… that’s a fight we all want to see. But for now, lets bask in the glow of UFC Fight Night 50, a night we’ll never forget.
