Once again Iaquinta Nation, it’s Fight Night. Tonight LIVE from the Foxwoods Resort and Casino, Al Iaquinta will take on Rodrigo Damm in what will be a very important match up for both fighters. The younger Iaquinta will come in looking to bounce back against a tough Brazilian opponent in Rodrigo Damm. Iaquinta has rebounded well following a loss so far in his career, something he hasn’t had to deal with very often. “I guess it’s one of those things you have to chalk up to experience” Iaquinta said discussing his loss to Mitch Clarke in May. “Some guys don’t get caught, and I have to become one of those guys.” Iaquinta went on “ That guy shouldn’t have lasted the first round with me.”
Learn from the experience and continue to improve. He will look to do exactly that against Damm, who will be fueled by the same motivation as Iaquinta. When the cage doors lock tonight you’ll see two very focused and determined fighters squaring off.
The match up is an interesting one. Two well rounded fighters, both with their specific strengths. Iaquinta will look to enter this matchup fighting smart, taking the fight where he wants to take it. With Damm’s BJJ experience look for Iaquinta to keep the fight standing. In keeping it a stand up war, Damm will have a difficult time standing toe to toe with Iaquinta who is the superior striker. Although Rodrigo Damm has a respectable wrestling background, he’ll have a difficult time with Iaquinta’s take down defense. Look for Iaquinta to push the action early and often in this fight.

Iaquinta comes into this contest as the younger, stronger, and hungrier fighter. Not taking anything away from a dangerous Rodrigo Damm, but Iaquinta has the ability to control this fight. His wrestling and striking ability will help him have the upper hand against Damm. This fight is an important one for Iaquinta. Get back on track and send a message to the light weight division that he’s still the fighter to watch out for. “I just have to dominate, that’s it” Iaquinta told UFC.com
