On September 5th Al Iaquinta(8-3-1) will step back into the octagon against Rodrigo Damm(12-7). The fight will take place at Foxwoods Resorts and Casino in Connecticut as well as LIVE on Fox Sports 1. Both Iaquinta and Damm will enter the fight with a bit of a chip on their shoulders, both coming off somewhat surprising losses. Iaquinta being chocked out via D’Arce by Mitch Clarke, and Damm lossing to Rashid Magomedov by unanimous decision. Before that, both fighters we’re riding respected win streaks that came to a halt. Look for Iaquinta and Damm to both be highly motivated and looking to get back into the win column at UFC Fight Night 50. Continue Reading

In case you missed it this week, news broke Thursday via Newsday and MMA Junkie that Al Iaquinta would be stepping back into the Octagon. Al will fight for the third time in six months, this time right in his backyard. A home game if you will, as the fight will take place at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. The fight will be the Saturday of Superbowl weekend February 1st.
Iaquinta was originally slated to fight on the last card at the Prudential Center against TUF teammate Joe Proctor at UFC 159. The fight was pulled from the card after Proctor suffered an injury. This will be the closest Iaquinta has fought to New York since entering the UFC. Expect a big turn out from “Iaquinta Nation” at the event.
Iaquinta has been training in California for the past few weeks helping Urijah Faber train for his dominant Tap Out victory last night. Now he’ll be coming back to New York to continue to keep working hard in preparation for this fight. His opponent will be UFC newcomer Kevin Lee (6-0) fighting out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Another tough opponent for Iaquinta to take on as he continues to show his dominant skill set in the light weight division.
As always continue to check in here for constant updates, interviews, videos, and a new Al Iaquinta T- Shirt. I’ll have information up here about tickets for the fight sometime this week as well. Anyone questions email me at MattPellicane@gmail.com
