The Ultimate Fighter Live Semifinals

Here’s a few articles to catch up on if you haven’t seen them yet this morning. If you missed it Sunday morning Al was in Newsday. Catch up on a great article by our Friend Mark La Monica. If you’re unfamiliar with Mark’s work he does an outstanding job writing for Newsday and has an incredible understanding and appreciation for mixed martial arts. Be sure to keep up with his work and follow him on Twitter as well.

If you haven’t gotten your fill after that check out another article from UFC.com from yesterday. The article does a nice job of putting Al’s journey from the Ultimate Fighter to present day in review, his thoughts on teammate Chris Weidman, and how important it is for him to be able to fight so close to home. Domination. It’s the perfect word that everyone keeps using to describe “Raging” Al Iaquinta’s performance Saturday night. “I think I’m going to dominate everyone, that just how I think” Iaquinta said. For three rounds Iaquinta did just that, dominating his opponent Ryan Couture. The fight was about as solid of a performance as you could ask for, ending off with a beat up, broken down Ryan Couture and an impressive unanimous decision win for Iaquinta. For Al it’s his first official UFC win, and one that reminded fight fans and everyone in the lightweight division that he’s the fighter to watch out for. Continue Reading

Check out this great article HERE from Newsday’s Keiko Morris discussing the following mixed martial arts has gained on Long Island. Right in the center of it all are Al’s trainers Matt Serra and Ray Longo. The article touches on the changes in the sport over the past two decades, and how competitive the business aspect of mixed martial arts has become, especially in the Long Island area. A look into McCann’s, Iaquinta vs. Ogle

Once again I want to thank everyone for coming down to McCann’s this past Friday for Iaquinta vs. Ogle. As always it was a great turn out and everyone had an awesome time. I don’t mean to sound like a broken record but I really appreciate all the support for Al and I know his family does as well. Al saw a video of the crowd reaction after the Myles Jury fight, and spoke afterwards about how much everyone coming down to McCann’s, and the overwhelming support mean’s to him. If you missed it here’s a quick look into all the excitement inside McCann’s from Friday night.(Make sure to “like” McCann’s FACEBOOK page to see more pictures from Friday.) Check here later today for details on another viewing party and open bar at McCann’s this Friday March 25th.
