Confidence. It’s one of the most important attributes a fighter can bring into the octagon. The battle can be drawing that fine line between confident and cocky. One of the most important keys to Al Iaquinta’s knock out over Ross Pearson was just that. Confident, but never cocky. The other? This isn’t a fighter who should be taken lightly. He isn’t anyones stepping stone in this division. In his past two fights “Raging” Al has shown he brings knock out power to the table. In less then two weeks he’ll look to bring that same knock out power against Joe Lauzon at UFC 183. Continue Reading
The new year will bring yet another big fight for “Raging” Al. Iaquinta(10-3-1) will take on Joe Lauzon(24-9) at UFC 183 on January 31st. The card will take place Superbowl weekend, and is headlined by the much anticipated battle between Nick Diaz and Anderson Silva. Iaquinta comes off the biggest win of his career knocking out Ross Pearson a few weeks ago. Lauzon most recently stopped Micheal Chiesa via TKO.
Iaquinta has won 5 of his last six fights, the last two by way of knockout. Lauzon has won two in a row after dropping three of four. A great match up for Iaquinta as he looks to continue to move his way to the top of the light weight division. Expect to see an exciting fight with the strong stand up and BJJ of both fighters. The fight has the makings to be a classic. As always be sure to check here for articles, interviews, T-shirt sales, and much more.
“After this win they’re going to know who I am.” Yes they will indeed. That was Iaquinta’s comment from earlier this week. If they didn’t know who Iaquinta was before, they certainly do now. Iaquinta in his best performance to date executes a big second round knock out over Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 55. The Serra Longo fighter only continues to improve each fight. “I fight better when I fight better guys. I fight better when I fight in front of a big crowd” Iaquinta said after the fight. That’s great moving forward but for now a big win over Pearson puts Iaquinta’s career on the map. Continue Reading
Once again Iaquinta Nation it’s Fight Night. It will be Wantagh’s own Al Iaquinta taking on England’s hard hitting Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 55. This is a big opportunity for Iaquinta, who enters this fight winning four of his last five. A win against Pearson would really put him on the map, showing the rest of the world what many of us all ready know. Al Iaquinta is just about as tough as they come. A fighter who only continues to improve, he’ll look to to take that next big step rising in the division tonight. Continue Reading
You know what they say, ask and you shall receive. Al Iaquinta has gone on record several times saying that he was ready for a “top name” opponent. He got exactly what he asked for. On Friday night Iaquinta will take on Ross Pearson at UFC Fight Night 55. Pearson is a well known star on the rise who has been making some noise in the light weight division. This Friday it will be Iaquinta looking to make some noise of his own as he looks to defeat Pearson and rise in the division. Continue Reading
Another congratulations on a strong performance against Rodrigo Damm. What did you take away from that fight?
I showed everyone where my skills we’re really at and that I’ll only continue to improve. Rodrigo Damm has beaten a lot of great fighters and is very dangerous. I really fought a flawless fight. I also showed my ability to bounce back from a loss.
What did you take away/learn from your previous loss to Mitch Clarke?
I really should have finished that guy in the first round. He never should have had the opportunity to win that fight. I put my guard down while being in a dominant position and he was able to capitalize. I can’t let guys off the hook.
How helpful has it been traveling to Australia two weeks in advance to get adjusted opposed to only traveling the week before your Hallman fight in England?
I think it’s been tremendously helpful. The first couple of nights were kind of rough. Having a few extra days to get acclimated and get some hard training in before cutting weight will definitely benefit me.
You’ve been asking for a fight with a “top named” opponent. You got that in Ross Pearson. What are your general thoughts on him? Continue Reading
