As most of you all ready heard the International Olympic Committee(IOC) has decided to drop wrestling from the 2020 Olympics. This is a decision that has sent shock and outrage throughout web and all of the wrestling community. No other sport teaches athletes more about hard work, discipline, and how to over come adversity, not only as a team but as an individual as well. The decision to take this great sport away has sent shock through the MMA world, as a significant amount of competitors in the sport come from a wrestling background. To take away one of the worlds oldest sports is an absolute tragedy. We ask you to please take a minute out of your day and sign this PETITION to save Olympic Wrestling. Help save this great sport that has been so important to every wrestler that’s ever stepped on the mat at any level of competition.

As most of you all ready know UFC will make history on Feburary 23rd with it’s first women’s fight. UFC Women’s Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will take on Liz Carmouche in the historic match up. Those of you who don’t know too much about the two this first part of three UFC Primetime videos is a great look into the training, as well as the lives of both fighters. Be sure to check your local listings for the next two parts of the show leading up to what should be an exciting fight between Rousey and Carmouche.

Uriah Hall- Top Five KO’s in a decade?

In case you missed it, last night on The Ultimate Fighter TUF 17 Uriah Hall took on Adam Cella in the second preliminary fight of the show. In a first round that went back and fourth, many we’re surprised with the toughness of Cella taking on the very powerful New Yorker Hall, considered to be one of the top contenders on the show. With only a few seconds left in the fight he showed why. Hall connected with one of the most brutal kicks fight fan’s have seen in awhile. The video via MMA Junkie takes a closer look into the big KO. Dana White had a lot to say through his twitter about the knock out. “In my thirteen years at UFC I’ve only seen five knock outs like this” White said. He went on to discuss the brutal KO and the aftermath, which FX Network would not allow to air an unedited version of. “He was out for four minutes, on the stool at six(minutes), and in the ambulance at nine(minutes).” He followed saying “I wanted to put an uncut version of the knock out on our website but our lawyers and the network said no f*cking way!”

Is this one of the best knock out’s you’ve seen in recent history? Does it compare to other big KO’s we’ve seen like Henderson vs. Bisping, Silva vs. Belfort, or even Gonzaga vs. Cro Cop? Let’s hear from you!

Al-McCanns

I know some people out there aren’t on Facebook so I wanted to post this on here as well. If you do have Facebook and I missed you I apologize! We’re going to be doing a bus trip and tailgate leaving from McCann’s Pub and Grill the day of the fight. Most of you know the bar well after watching all of Al’s fights from TUF Live there. Here’s the information from the Facebook event. I’m trying to get a head count for the buses as soon as possible. If you would like to come and don’t have Facebook please let me know and I’ll make sure you’re accounted for.

McCann’s has offered to help put together a Bus Trip and Tailgate. Price, which will be determined once we get a better head count will include transportation to The Prudential Center, all you can drink beers, and food (most likely hero’s). We’re hoping to get a big crowd all traveling together. In order to get the ball rolling on this PLEASE only hit Attending if you’re going to participate in the bus and tailgate. We need to do this to figure out how many buses well need. Please don’t hesitate to respond, the sooner the better so I can start making arrangements.

I hope you all come this should be a lot of fun and I know Al appreciates the support. Feel free to use this group for questions on the tailgate as well as anything else. You can email me at MattPellicane@gmail.com with any other questions as well.

***As far as fight tickets I’ll have some more information out during the week. Tickets are all ready on sale so we have to be on that ASAP. I’m looking into trying to get a big block of tickets together. If that’s too difficult I’ll pick a section of a reasonable price and well try to all sit close together if possible***

Al Iaquinta is no stranger to fighting in New Jersey, just a few short hours from his home in Long Island New York. He’s fought as an amateur and professional in New Jersey over twenty times. In April, Iaquinta will head back to Jersey once again this time fighting on the UFC 159 Card. Iaquinta is scheduled to fight his former Team Faber teammate Joe Proctor. The fight was first announced here yesterday by Iaquinta himself. An announcement most of Al’s fans and Iaquinta Nation have been waiting to hear for some time. Following an impressive knock out win over Mark Munoz, Al’s Serra Longo teammate Chris Weidman has since been sidelined following surgery on a torn labrum. Weidman was injured while training for his fight against Tim Boetsch. Many people, as well as Weidman himself believe he should be the next in line for a shot at Anderson Silva’s middle weight title. Although Weidman may not be the biggest name in the middle weight division, there’s no denying that he’s the most deserving of a shot, especially with Micheal Bisping’s recently losing to Vitor Belfort. For some more information on this controversial middle weight discussion check out what MMA Junkie had to say. There’s lot’s of Long Island MMA fans that would love to see Weidman get his shot.

The newest season of the Ultimate Fighter starts tonight at 8pm on FX. The show moves back to a midweek spot for the first time in two seasons since making the switch to the FX Network. 28 Middle weights will fight for a chance to get into the TUF House. They’ll be coached by UFC Light Heavy weight champion Jon Jones as well as Chael Sonnen. Sonnen has the reputation of being a very controversial and outspoken character, making him one of the most intriguing coaches on the hit reality show yet.
